TEACHER DEVELOPMENT CLUB #11: Information Technology for the Best & Easiest Teaching

The life we have these days make us busy all the time, but it's undeniable that we can still access our mobile phones many times a day!

We may still gather at our local centres like 'Vijiweni' for more social interactions like playing 'Bao' and getting some entertaining gossips, but we have to have other official centres of our profession upgrading. These centres have to be physical, a certain building where teachers can meet and exchange their teaching experiences. However, these centres have to be organised locally or by responsible authorities and sometimes they need financing. Therefore, they need some time consuming arrangements, delays, and other organizational protocols. But there's a replacement for this!

The replacement I am trying to present here is IT (Information Technology) where teachers can use it to learn and access various materials for profession upgrading. To make this happen, teachers are advised to be exposed to modern technology. For example, a teacher who has a smartphone is more likely to be exposed to modern technology than the teacher who does not own such kind of digital device. However, this kind of replacement should not be excessively applied. Physical gathering is still a crucial option, and it can only be suspended when the prevailing conditions are not so friendly for such gathering.

Why is IT a replacement for physical gathering?
Remember that owning a smartphone alone cannot be a ticket for having exposure to modern technology. For example, the people who were formerly crossing the river by swimming, know exactly the benefits of the built bridge. So, even the people who know how to effectively use their smartphones, will exactly benefit from them. Teachers have to use their available digital resources (smartphones etc) effectively and efficiently in order to access the T/L Materials.

Thus, the core purpose of these KACHELE ONLINE ARTICLES under the TEACHER DEVELOPMENT CLUB is to bring teachers, especially English Language Teachers under one roof, and allow them to share various experiences on teaching, guiding, caring, managing, and maintaining discipline for the students. These articles will also help teachers to know the best mobile applications for teachers and how to use them for teaching and learning process. Various digital applications like; organization applications, planning applications, management applications, and delivery applications will be discussed.

Final Words. Technology has no tendency of slowing down. If we slow down, we won't reach where it is now. So, we better hurry up, face it and use it right now. Our smartphones is the starting line. Other portable digital devices will follow. 'One bird is worth than two birds in the bush'. Let us talk a digital language. This is how Information Technology can be the cornerstone for the best and the easiest teaching!
