Introduction

English Language Syllabus for Ordinary Level Secondary School has allocated specific number of periods per each class as follows:

There are 194 or 195 teaching days per year. There are five (5) teaching days in a week (Monday – Friday). Roughly, there are 38.8 teaching weeks in a year. However, because of the presence of examination weeks, there are total of 36 teaching weeks in a year.

The following are other 6 things you need to know about Form Two English Language:
1.   Number of Main Topics: 11
2.   Number of Sub Topics: 25
3.   Number of Specific Objectives: 27
4.   Estimated Number of Class T/L Activities: 80
5.   Estimated Number of Class Lesson Plans: 80
6.   Number of Periods per year: 252

Conclusion
Thus, ‘O’ Level English Syllabus has the following number of aspects in total:

NB: The total number of periods per year is calculated by dividing number of periods per week (e.g. 7) with 36 teaching weeks.
T/L activities and lesson plans have been estimated according to the syllabus itself. Number of activities or lesson plans shown in the table above can be reduced or increase depending on the teacher’s experiences or understanding of the syllabus. However, in teaching English Language, it is highly recommended to have more activities.
English Language teachers are advised to complete the allocated syllabus topics within 194 or 195 teaching days in a year.
