10 Ten Books I Read In 2017

The Reading habit is not easy to develop. If you are a student, you need to develop this reading habit in order to know how to read novels and short stories, how to read plays, and how to read poetry. For the teachers and others, reading habit is important for developing your career and enriching yourself with wide range of knowledge of this world.

Start or Finish a year meaningfully by grabbing one, two or more books to read! As George R.R. Martin in ‘A Dance with Dragons’ says “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies…..The man who never reads lives only one”, I have also been fascinated by this habit of reading books every year. Reading is a habit and can be developed by frequent reading of books. But as you read, you should make sure you finish a book you are reading.

Every year I promise myself to read some books for personal and creative enrichment, work improvement and performance, and improvement of my teaching career. These three things are what define my life. Thus, I read some books from various fields so as to sharpen my performance in them.

I also keep a diary every year. To keep a good diary is not an easy task. So, I also read to enrich my mind for better keeping of diaries.

There are other books and materials I have read in this year around, but I preferred to share these books from my long reading list.

The following are the 10 books I read in 2017 from three different fields:

A. BOOKS ABOUT WORK PERFORMANCE

1.Kiander, Timo (2015) Work Smarter: Not Harder: 18 Productivity Tips That Boost Your Work Day Performance.

2. Kiander, Timo (2017) Work Smarter: Not Harder: 2.0: 28 Additional Tips That Boost Your Work Day Performance.

3. Riebe, Wolfgang (n.d) 10 Rules of Happiness www.wolfgangriebe.com >

4. Tracy, Brian (n.d) GOALS! How to get everything you want faster than you ever thought possible!

B. BOOKS ABOUT LITERATURE AND CREATIVE WRITING

1. Daverell, Eva (2015) A Field Guide to Your Imagination: For Living Writers < www.aadeverell.com >

2. Kasaja, Wandeti (2017) Siri za Kijasusi na Upelelezi Zilizowekwa Wazi, Chawa Bookshop, Dar es Salaam.

3. Robert, Shaban (1983) Pambo la Lugha, Oxford University Press, Dar es Salaam.

4. Klems, Brian. A & Petit, Zachary (n.d ) The Writing Prompt Boot Camp: Two - Weeks of Craft, Creativity, and Discipline.

C. BOOKS ABOUT ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

1. Vince, Michael with Sunderland, Peter (2003) Advanced Language Practice with key. English Grammar and Vocabulary, Macmillan,

2. Lynch, Tony & Anderson, Kenneth (2013) Grammar for Academic Writing: Revised & Updated by Anthony Elloway): English Language Teaching Centre, University of Edinburgh.

These books helped me to shape this lasting year. I hope I will need another list of books that will shape the coming year, 2018!
